According to documents coming from Best Buy the $399 40GB PS3 with the Spiderman 3 pack-in is due to hit retail stores on October 28th.

This is huge news for fans waiting to pick up a PS3 as it shows that Sony is doing yet another price drop on the console, sort of.

They are not directly dropping the price but considering that the 20GB PS3 launched at a price point of $499 one year ago, $399 for a 40GB PS3 is a significant drop in price.

There is no word on the street date for the 40GB PS3 but as stated it will hit retail locations in shipments beginning October 28th as Sony makes a huge holiday push with their console.

The 40GB PS3 will cost $399 and will come packed in with the Blu-ray film Spiderman 3.
